STEWARDESS

I’m a stewardess, but I used to be an editor for a magazine, so I always have had my head in the clouds. In addition, I’ve always been attracted by the heights and distances and so I came up with a great idea – I could explore the world as a flight attendant! 🙂

After two months of training and three months of flying, the time for well deserved holiday has come. For first five days I decide to go home in Slovakia, where I can celebrate with my family missed Christmas, and from there through Germany, Abu Dhabi and Jakarta we go with my boyfriend to Bali island, where we will be celebrating missed New Year’s Eve. Bali is one wonderful place in the world. Although Indonesia is a Muslim country, the island as one of the few is fully Hindu, called the Island of Gods. It is full of ancient temples, rice fields and breathtaking scenery. Local people are very friendly, the atmosphere is relaxed, the prices are low. Many young people come here to surf, have fun, climb the mountains, for diving or yoga. It is an island of infinite possibilities, and I am horrified when find out that less than 4 days that we have for Bali will not be enough! We stay in a part of island called Kuta, near Kuta Beach, which is well known for busy streets. It’s just the perfect place to have a fun and for surfing. And that’s exactly what our plan is – to have a fun, relax, not to go anywhere special, just to enjoy, even if it means to miss some exploring. We rent a small motorbike, and so we rent freedom of movement. I definitely recommend renting a bike – you can get easily and quickly almost everywhere! Everybody drives scooters here, driver’s license is not really checked… The first day, however, after a long flight, we just chill on the beach, jump over huge waves, and eventually we have small mud battle. Arab and Slovak, both dirty from mud, we are a great attraction for the tourists passing by. In the evening, we have couple of beers at the beach and then little bit tipsy we just take our bike and follow a group of young people who lead us to the amazing beach party. The next day, we spend few hours with hangover and then on tour to meet some monkeys. Near the town of Ubud there is a popular monkey forest. Its inhabitants – small monkeys macaws are crazy and cheeky. Ubud is otherwise considered to be the cultural heart of the island. There are many temples, souvenir shops, restaurants and bars. You can join a cooking course where you will learn to cook delicious Balinese specialties. My favorite is fried rice called Nasi Goreng. And if you’re around Ubud, you can also go to beautiful rice fields. Their unusual beauty will get you. The top attractions of the island include the Tanah Lot Temple, which is located on a volcanic rock in the middle of the sea. It offers the most beautiful view of the sunset. We have missed but from my friends’ stories I know that the great experience is also a ride on the Ayung River, the island of Gili Trawangan with a swing in the middle of the sea, a party at the Potato Head Beach Club, the Tegenungan Falls or the water village Munduk. The more people travel, the more the bucket list grows…

Bali #2

Ten days in Bali! Does this article need even better advertising?

Jakarta #1

On my birthday, our schedule planners put me on one of the easiest and most satisfying flights at all. Jakarta flights are usually full of tourists who are going to Bali…
