STEWARDESS
I’m a stewardess, but I used to be an editor for a magazine, so I always have had my head in the clouds. In addition, I’ve always been attracted by the heights and distances and so I came up with a great idea – I could explore the world as a flight attendant! 🙂

Christmas is around the corner! And although in Abu Dhabi, where I live, as a act of respect to Christian fellow citizens and tourists, there is the most spectacular and most expensive Christmas tree in the world, nothing else reminds me Christmas atmosphere. For a Christmas spirit, we have to travel to Europe. I’m so glad I have in my schedule the flight to Milan! Surprise number 1: On board I meet another flying Slovakian. Vladimira has been flying for our company for more than a year, so I try to get some useful tips from here. Surprise number 2: We have probably the best captain we could ever wish for. His name is Hany, but we all call him “Honey”. After our arrival he invited all the girls on board for the dinner! As soon as we take off our uniforms, we are heading straight to Milan’s Cathedral, where traditional Christmas market take also its place these days. After a few obligatory “selfies” in front of the Cathedral, our Egyptian captain chooses a beautiful lounge bar with a heated terrace and stunning views of the Duomo, where we start our evening in proper Italian way: with the aperitif. When the outside starts dimming and the lamps are no longer enough to heat the patio, we move inside a multi-storey building, where we find stunning Italian grocery stores: cheese, olive oil, wine and pasta that best taste if they are genuine Italian. Our dinner takes place at the Monte Nero – Bergamo restaurant, right in the heart of the pompous Viktor Emuanuel II Gallery, where a giant Christmas tree with Swarovski crystals stands together with famus brand stores as Prada or Louis Vuitton. There is Foccacia, delicious bread, olive oil, balsamic, pasta, Milanese risotto and, of course, a bottle of fine wine on our dinner table. I keep saying that the best way how to get know Italy it’s by eating italian food. While our muslim captain invited us for dinner, we are taking him for the typical mulled wine from Christmas market. Let him also taste some spirit of Christmas! Finally, in the air, I feel christmas with its typical smell of apple strudel, roasted sausages and honey. Wherever in Europe you are, the Christmas markets are about same: mulled wine, hot scarves and caps, candles, angels and Christmas decorations. Unlike us Slovaks, our Egyptian captian does not enjoy Christmas sweet wine so much, so we finish the evening in the proper winery with the glass of Pinot Grigio. Let everyone be happy …
